Maple floor sanding and finishing in Eltham
This project centred around a solid maple strip floor that required full sanding and restoration. After sanding the floor back to bare timber, the entire surface was carefully filled using a sawdust and resin mix to close gaps and create a seamless, level finish across the room.
Once the preparation stage was complete, the floor was sealed and finished with three coats of Bona Mega in Silk Matt. This water-based lacquer was selected for its durability and subtle sheen, providing excellent protection while maintaining a natural, understated appearance.
The finished floor now has a smooth, consistent surface with a soft matt look that complements the light tone of the maple, delivering a practical and long-lasting result for the homeowner.
Why professional floor sanding matters
Correct preparation and finishing play a vital role in the longevity, appearance and safety of timber floors. Professional sanding techniques help achieve a level, consistent surface, while the correct finishing system protects the timber from wear and ongoing maintenance issues.
In larger or high-use spaces, careful product selection and application methods are especially important to ensure durability and safe performance over time.
