Church hall herringbone floor sanding and restoration

We were instructed to restore this herringbone timber floor within a working church environment, where consistent footfall had caused visible wear across the surface. Prior to sanding, checks were carried out to confirm the available wear layer and ensure the floor could be restored safely.

The floor was sanded through coarse, medium and fine grits before being refined using a specialist buffing system to achieve a smooth, even finish across the large open space.

Once preparation was complete, the floor was sealed with Loba EasyPrime to provide a stable base before applying two coats of Loba Fusion 2K lacquer. This commercial-grade system was selected to deliver long-term durability while maintaining a clean, low-sheen appearance suitable for a busy place of worship.

Why professional floor sanding matters

Correct preparation and finishing play a vital role in the longevity, appearance and safety of timber floors. Professional sanding techniques help achieve a level, consistent surface, while the correct finishing system protects the timber from wear and ongoing maintenance issues.

In larger or high-use spaces, careful product selection and application methods are especially important to ensure durability and safe performance over time.
